In addition to sample preparation, IBC's technology can be used to detect analytes and enhance the performance of analytical instruments. The Empore Rad Disk, marketed by 3M and using IBC separation technology, is used to detect radionuclides. This product received the Top 40 R&D 100 Award. Empore Rad Disks for radioactive radium and strontium analytical testing are distributed by Fisher 2002 - 2003 catalog on page 1656. (For strontium disks see Cat no. 14-388-91. For radium disks see Cat no. 14-388-92) The use of selective separations technology in advanced instrument concepts can provide analytical instrument companies with significant performance advantages. Examples of some instrument formats that can benefit from IBC's technology include: ISEs, AA, FIAA, ICP, CE, test kits.

IBC's products permit automated in-line pre-concentration of elements prior to AA analysis. This greatly reduces elemental detection limits as well as increased accuracy for low level analytes. This is done without significantly increasing the time of analysis per sample (see Publications Sperling, et. al.)

IBC also offers specialty and fine chemicals for complexation agents, ionophores, and analyte selectors (see Fine and Specialty Chemical Division).
